Sparks returns with our fantastic Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) under the baton of Kenneth Young. The programme features popular pieces from Bolero to the theme music from the Magnificent Seven with appearances by Harry Grigg, Tama Waipara, Jennine Bailey and a special guest appearance by Fuzhun, the winners of the Canterbury Regional Smokefree Rockquest.
The evening concludes with a dazzling fireworks display to CSO performing the Sorcerer’s Apprentice. We are delighted to welcome St John back as our Charity of Choice – their collectors will be in the venue on the night.
Pre-show entertainment will start at 5.30pm so head down early to grab a spot to prepare for a fun evening in Hagley Park.
This event is weather dependent, any postponement details will be added here closer to the time. Postponement date is Sunday 12 February.
There will be no public car parking available on Hagley Park. The Botanic Gardens Armagh Street car park will be closed to incoming traffic from 3pm on Saturday 11 February, with the exception of mobility card holders.
Wilson Parking and the Council have teamed up to offer to cheap parking for Sparks.
Select Wilson carparks within the Central City will offer flat-rate carparking of $3 over a 12 hour period. This applies from 4pm on Saturday 11 February to 4am on Sunday 12 February.

Parking is not permitted on any part of Cranmer Square.
Drop-off zones will be located on Park terrace and Harper Ave.
There will be cycle stands available at North Hagley Park, Events Triangle (roundabout area after Armagh St bridge) and on the northern end of the event area.
Mobility parking is available in the Botanic Gardens car park via the Armagh Street Bridge. Please note the entrance will be left-turn only from 3pm. A mobility pass but be visible.
Accessible seating is located in front of the stage, look out for signage.

The Mimark Reunite Zone is focused on reducing the stress and anxiety levels of lost children until they are safely reunited with their family or caregiver. Identifiable by the giant fingerprint, the zone is fenced off and is staffed by qualified childcare professionals.
